I’ve read many many pricing books and enjoyed almost all of them. However, I haven’t seen one that I would say is simple enough for the average businessperson. Not that business people aren’t brilliant, they just don’t have the time or energy to wade through a deep tome on a subject like pricing.
While writing Impact Pricing, I put myself in the shoes of the product marketers who I work with at National Semiconductor and the small business owners who I regularly advise on pricing. These people just want the information and they want it quickly. They don’t want to hear someone pontificate or show off. They want the point and an example, that’s it. And that’s what I attempted to do.
